What is Full Smile Restoration?

Full smile restoration or smile rejuvenation can be treatment for:

  • patients that are seeking to enhance the appearance of their smile
  • patients that may have multiple failing or extracted teeth
  • patients that are current wearing partial or full dentures and are seeking alternatives.

Full smile rejuvenation begins with a smile consultation in which Dr. Martin carefully listens to your concerns.  After an examination, photos and radiographs, we will be able to determine the best treatment to accomplish your smile and overall health goals.  In many cases, we will want time to study your case, and may call you back for a second appointment in which he can review your treatment.

Full smile rejuvenation often is comprised of multiple procedures.  For example, it may involve a mix of crowns, veneers, dental implants, and possibly some restorations.  Our team will explain the exact treatments and number of appointments and time frame required to complete a full smile restoration.

How Much Does Smile Rejuvenation Cost?

The full cost of treatment and payment arrangements will be reviewed with you prior to completing any treatment.  In general, when patients come for smile rejuvenation, we provide a printed treatment plan that gives them a breakdown of all the work required and the total fee. If you have dental insurance, we will work with your benefits provider to ensure you receive your maximum benefits.  However, smile rejuvenation often exceeds the maximum of most dental insurance providers.  Hence, we will review  additional payment arrangements with you that will make achieving your smile goals fit into your budget.  We know finances are a concern for patients, particularly for more comprehensive treatment and are always happy to answer any questions you have in a judgement-free and comfortable environment.

Who is a candidate for full mouth dental restorations?

As dental restorations are adjusted to each unique case, they are suitable for a wide variety of patients, who:

  1. Are seeking to enhance the appearance of their smile
  2. Have one or more missing teeth
  3. Have tooth decay, disease, chipped or fractured teeth
  4. Are currently wearing partial or full dentures and are seeking alternatives

Types of dental restorations

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to dental restorations. The rejuvenation of your smile can comprise multiple procedures which are tailored exactly to your needs. Our team at Central Park Dentists will explain the exact treatments, number of appointments and time frame required to complete your full teeth makeover.

Treatments can include:

  • Dental crowns – teeth with more extensive decay or which have undergone root canals can be treated with crowns. Crowns are fabricated from strong porcelain or zirconia which fits over the entire tooth, providing support and a barrier for the healthy tooth structure underneath.
  • Dental veneers – these are a thin shell of porcelain that are bonded to your front teeth. Veneers can be used for cosmetic or restorative purposes to close gaps, change the contour or shape of the tooth, and cover front teeth that have chipped or cracked.
  • Dental implants – if you have one or more missing teeth, then implants will be a key part of your restorative dental treatment. They comprise a zirconia restoration which screws into a titanium post implanted into your bone. We plan implants using 3D technology during your treatment.
  • Composite teeth filling – the treatment of choice for mild and sometimes moderate tooth decay or cavities. Composites are made from ceramic particles combined with a resin base and are matched exactly to the colour of your teeth. After preparing your tooth and removing decay the composite will be bonded to your tooth.
  • Dental inlays and onlays – teeth with more advanced decay require inlays or onlays made from tooth-coloured porcelain. They are stronger than traditional fillings. Inlays are used when the decay is mostly in the centre of the tooth, and onlays are used when decay is more extensive and has spread to the outer portion of the tooth surface.
  • State-of-the-art technology: At our NYC practice we use the Solea dental laser, CBCT diagnosis, The Wand anaesthesia and CEREC 3D scanner and milling unit, allowing your restorative dental procedures to be carried out more efficiently, painlessly and conveniently.

What does restoration mean in dentistry?

What are dental restorations? Restorations are the various ways your dentist can replace or restore your missing teeth or missing parts of your tooth structure, or structures that need to be placed after the removal of decay.

What is included in restorative dental care?

“Restorative dentistry” is the term dental professionals use to explain how they replace missing or damaged teeth. Fillings, crowns (“caps”), bridges and implants restorations are common restorative options. The goal is to bring back your natural smile and prevent future oral health issues.

How Do I Know What Procedures Fall Under Restorative Dentistry?

Oral health needs vary from one person to the next. Some require only prophylactic (preventive) procedures, such as cleanings and routine exams. Others require more major work, like getting a root canal or oral surgery. Restorative dentistry is the act of physically restoring the form and function of damaged or diseased teeth. Restorations come in all shapes and sizes, including fillings, crowns, inlays, onlays, bridges, and dental implants restorations.

Can My Smile by Improved Quickly? How So?

“Quick” is relative when it comes to deciding on what basic restorative dental care is going to be worked into your treatment plan. Depending on how many teeth or areas of your mouth need to be treated, we will generally phase the appointments out over a period of time. This keeps you more comfortable (so that your entire mouth is not numbed up at once) and gives you the flexibility of prioritizing your oral health needs as your budget allows. How quickly your appointments are completed is up to you! Some procedures can be completed in one appointment, while others require extra visits because of restorations being made in an off-site lab.

Is tooth extraction restorative?

No, it isn’t. At our dental clinic in Midtown, New York, we can perform dental extractions (tooth extractions) quickly and with minimal discomfort to treat a variety of dental conditions, including advanced gum disease.
